Raising The Bar Season 2 Returns With Juicer Drama On Sony Entertainment Television This January
November 30, 2009
Singapore, 1 December, 2009 – There will certainly be no objections made when Raising The Bar returns for a gripping second season on Sony Entertainment Television (SET) on 6 January 2010. Courtroom drama buffs can expect smart legal maneuvers and viewers hungry for the channel’s trademark wickedly juicy TV, can look forward to not just snappy dialogue from the fast talking lawyers, but also riveting plot developments in this popular drama series.
Raising The Bar is the courtroom drama created by the 10-time Emmy-winning producer Steven Bochco starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar (NYPD Blue, Saved By The Bell) as Jerry Kellerman, Gloria Reuben (ER) as Rosalind Whitman and Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle) as Judge Trudy Kessler. This season, the young lawyers have to grapple with hate crimes, drug dealers and child pornography. Friends out of court but pitted against each other in court, Season 2 promises more delicious drama as these ex-classmates work to balance friendship with the necessary tenacity needed to win in court.
Says Bochco of Jerry’s drive as a public defender: “These guys don't care about money. They're motivated by a love of the law and a real sense of indignation about the way people at the low end of the socioeconomic spectrum are treated by the system.”
Idealistic Public Defender Jerry Kellerman’s stubborn dedication to assist the helpless and disenfranchised often gets him into hot soup with ambitious Judge Trudy, who has not hesitated to lock him behind bars in previous disagreements. This season, Jerry will have more to contend with other than just Judge Trudy, with the injection of a new formidable judge - Judge Albert Farnsworth (John Michael Higgins, The Ugly Truth, Yes Man). A worthy foil to the process-obsessed Judge Trudy, Judge Farnsworth’s unconventional courtroom rules are so draconian they make Judge Trudy’s seem quaint by comparison. Legal battles in the courtroom will reach new heights not just for Jerry and his fellow lawyers, but also for the two judges who will engage in an interesting battle of wills and wiles between themselves.
Spicing up the ‘goodwill’ between the two judges is Judge Trudy’s loyal aid and lover, Charlie Sagansky, played by the Canadian Emmy-nominated Jonathan Scarfe (Grey’s Anatomy, ER, CSI: Miami). Charlie piques the interest of Judge Farnsworth, whose underlying motive does not seem as simple as just poaching Charlie’s talents, especially when he invites Charlie over for a cosy dinner.
Adding more juice to the delicious drama is the impending announcement of Charlie’s coming-out this season, which will cause much upheaval to his career and personal life, after keeping his sexual orientation under wraps for so long. All hell is about to break loose indeed!
Bear testimony to the ingenuity of Season 2 of this winning legal drama with its versatile cast of engaging characters and riveting legal battles. Catch the premiere of Raising The Bar Season 2 on SET this January and be your own judge!
