While Paul (Paul Reiser) has found a home as a full-time documentary filmmaker at the Explorer Channel, the romantic and free-spirited Jamie (Helen Hunt) has opened a new PR firm with her longtime friend Fran (Leila Kenzle). On top of their busy and demanding careers, however, the Buchmans forge ahead with their plan to start a family. And despite a series of frustrating false alarms, they are determined to do whatever it takes to conceive – including virtually nonstop sex, malodorous herbal remedies and some indelicate medical exams. As they face everything from Jamie’s working with her husband’s high school rival to Paul’s sudden unemployment and their respective brushes with marital infidelity, their continuing focus on the task at hand finally results in the pregnancy they have both dreamed of.
